“Treasure” He Found

On a summer day of a year President Kim Il Sung was giving on-the-spot guidance to Sakju County, North Phyongan Province. Suddenly he called a halt at a lane through fields of Work team No. 3 of the cooperative farm in the town of Sakju County.

The accompanying officials could not make head or tail of it.

Despite of the sultry weather he stepped into a field to acquaint himself with a crop.

After being informed of his coming, the farmers and officials rushed into the scene and politely bowed to the President.

He gave them a high appreciation saying that millet was growing well. He asked them about the date of the application of fertilizer.

The chairman of the management board of the farm and farmers did not offer a single word in reply.

Because they did not apply manure and fertilizer sufficiently in good time.

Feeling guilty, the chairman of the management board of the farm told the President of what they have done.

Repeatedly saying that the crop grew well though much fertilizer was not applied in the field, he looked at the maize and millets growing well.

After a while he said with certainty that there was a rich deposit of phosphorite.

He went on to say that maize grew well in the sloping field as it had some ingredients of phosphorite

Later there was prospecting. Clear was the result.

It was confirmed that as the President said Sakju is a promising deposit of phosphorite.

Hence, the phosphorite which was once given up to find by experts and deposited for myriad years worthlessly, was found as “treasure” by the President.
